Cutting day at Joshua creek. The Birth of the birch tree!
CUTTING DAY AT JOSHUA CREEK HERITAGE ART CENTRE
Join us in this important day for the Arts this Monday May 16 at 9:30 am
Sybil Rampen and Ixchel Suarez invite you to witness the Birth of the large-scale tapestry woven in this magnificent place:
Memories of a Birch Tree
Tapestry is an ancient technique yet full of vast possibilities.
Our goal is to improve the visibility of woven tapestry as an art form. We would like to share with the interested General Public, the museum and gallery world, as well as the art critics that tapestry exists as a current, contemporary fine art discipline.
Through this project, we encourage new generations of artists to choose tapestry as their language of expression, and stimulate critical writing and thought about the medium.
We thank the support of the OAC through their Grant for Visual Artist Mid-Career Programme

This festive event includes exhibitions, workshops and conferences at Moon Rain Centre in the Gatineau Hills in the Outaouais region of West Quebec, and collaborates with major exhibition centres in the region to present textile arts exhibitions during the late summer and early fall of 2010.
